Gaspar Monge: Founder of Descriptive Geometry
Gaspar Monge (10.5.1746-28.7.1818) was a French mathematician, geometer, and public figure.
He was a member of the Paris Academy of Sciences and the creator of descriptive geometry. Monge was born in Bon-Côte-d'Or and graduated from the School of Military Engineers in Mézières. He became a professor of mathematics in 1768 and later also a professor of physics at the same school.
From 1780, he taught hydraulics at the Louvre School in Paris.
