    I wish to write of my mother,
    My mother loving and kind,
    Who to me, more than any other,
    Is the idol of my mind.


    She cared for me in my girlhood
    With a care that can never be told
    And that love in the years of womanhood
    Is even more precious than gold.


    Born on July 6, 1940 in Lopez, Quezon to Teodorico Capanzana and Inez Villegas, my mother, Lucita, is a mestiza with the tapered nose and fair complexion.

    She is the eight in a brood of eleven, with five brothers and five sisters.
